Communication begins with a personal knowledge of one’s own emotional reality. Emotional intelligence/knowing thyself, has to be a priority. One cannot successfully communicate with others if they are clueless of who they are, themselves.
Secondly, based on solid emotional intelligence one has to posses the ability to listen to understand the other person, not simply to respond; genuinely asking more questions to gain a better understanding, not to load the cannon.
Thirdly, when conflict arises one should be able to engage in conflict resolution utilizing the first two and implementing empathy, love, honor, and grace. When operating from a posture of seeking to serve and love rather than simply receiving healthy relationships are conceived.
